Who should be travelling to work while under coronavirus UK lockdown

Metro is reporting that the government has put an official ban on all but essential travel outside of the home as the UK enters lockdown to stop the spread of coronavirus.

Only ‘key workers’ should travel to and from work each day – all others should work from home where possible and non-essential shops, gyms, restaurants, pubs and bars have been closed.

Key workers are those considered essential in fighting against the coronavirus pandemic, which includes all NHS staff plus support and specialist staff in the health and social care sector.

Teachers, teaching assistants, nursery managers and social workers are listed as key workers, as are food chain workers involved in the production, distribution and sale of food.

Postal workers are also key to ensure deliveries are maintained while people adhere to strict distancing rules, outlined by Boris Johnson in an address to the nation last night.
