Welsh Government urged by David Attenborough to outlaw teaching of creationism in science classes

The broadcaster has signed a letter along with 50 other leading scientists urging the Welsh Government to give greater prominence to the teaching of evolution in primary school and to explicitly ban teaching creationism as science. iNews reports

According to Humanists UK, which organised the letter, the Welsh Government’s draft national curriculum does not see evolution taught until ages 14 to 15.

In England, state schools including primaries, have to teach evolution as a “comprehensive, coherent and extensively evidence based theory” and must not allow any view or theory to be taught as evidence-based if it is contrary to scientific or historical evidence or explanations”.
