Universities could face fresh strikes unless teaching is ‘Covid-safe’, union warns

Students could be hit with the third wave of lecturer strikes in a single year if universities plough ahead with face-to-face teaching, a union has warned. The University and College Union (UCU), representing 120,000 academic staff, is threatening to hold ballots for industrial action if campus is deemed unsafe as it ramps up calls for classes to stay fully online for the next academic year until “regular universal testing” is ready.
