Today’s poll: Batching all inset days into one week so families can have cheaper holidays – good idea?

A primary school has be praised by parents for deciding to take all its inset days in a single week from next year so parents can take their children on a cheaper ‘term-time’ holiday.

Do you think this is a good idea that more schools should follow (as long as they don’t all choose the same week!) or do you disagree?

INSET days are about in service TRAINING for staff. Can’t imagine five solid days once a year is the best way of achieving this most effectively. This just feeds into the notion that when teachers aren’t actually in front of a class they are ‘on holiday’. Ridiculous idea. And anyway……..when can teachers get cheaper holidays?
