Today’s poll: Are too many schools ignoring the impact of ‘hidden’ costs on poor children?

The Children’s Commission on Poverty report says more than 95% of parents on low incomes reported difficulties meeting school-related costs, while poorer children said they fell behind were subjected to humiliation, embarrassment and bullying because their poverty made them “stand out” in the classroom. Is this fair criticism or are schools appropriately mindful of the impact of costs on poorer families?
