Thousands of teenagers are at risk of becoming a ‘lost generation’ and falling into the clutches of criminal gangs due to the coronavirus crisis, the children’s commissioner has warned.

Many youngsters who had been on the brink of dropping out of education could slip out of sight completely following months of school and college closures, according to Anne Longfield.
