Thieves steal 28 iPads from primary school – then return for more

The Manchester Evening News is reporting that a school has been targeted twice by burglars over half term – with 28 iPads stolen…

Heartless thieves smashed their way into the infants department at Manley Park Primary in Whalley Range, Manchester on Monday night.

Removing fence panels to get into the school, they then broke through a ground floor window to get into the head teacher’s office.

They then made off with 28 iPads from the school’s infants department, located on York Avenue…

Then on Thursday the school was targeted again – this time with an attempted break-in at the school’s junior department, based on College Road.

Thieves again attempted to get into the school building – but are believed to have fled when the burglar alarm activated.

People are now being asked to look out for anyone selling iPads over the next few weeks as it’s believed thieves may try to sell them on…

The thefts at Manley Park are the latest in a string of burglaries at schools across the region, netting high value IT equipment…

  1. Apple’s marketing is so subtle.  Another generation of teachers is lured to believe that, if their students have the best technology, learning will improve.
    There is a lot of evidence that the hardware alone has little effect and that the repairs/replacement/security issues often outweigh the benefits.
    Stick to cheap hardware and get proven software.
