Teenage boy arrested over Scottish school bomb hoax

The Daily Record is reporting that a 15-year-old boy has been arrested for a spate of hoax bomb threats across the west Scotland.

The teenager is alleged to have targeted schools in Glasgow, Clydebank, Campbeltown and Lanarkshire over the last week.

It is understood the boy was not held in custody but police confirmed he will be the subject of a report to the Scottish Children’s Reporter Administrator.

A force spokesman said: “Police Scotland takes hoax calls extremely seriously. “They divert police resources and cause disruption and alarm to the public.”

Cumnock Academy was evacuated on Wednesday – a day after seven schools across Ayrshire , Glasgow, North Lanarkshire and West Dunbartonshire were targeted.

They all received an automated phone message claiming explosives were inside.

Most of the schools were evacuated as a result following advice from police and fire crews who set up cordons as a precaution.
