Parents across the country are being warned to be vigilant of a criminal video circulating on social media reports The Mirror.
Police and teachers have asked parents to check their children’s phones for a “disturbing video” involving indecent images of two children.
Contact has been made in a number of regions, including Bristol, where Cotham School sent a text explaining the situation. Children from other schools have already been sent the footage, according to the Bristol Post .
The film, the source of which is a fake social media account, is said to contain “very explicit sexual imagery”, the school said.
“Dear parent/carer, it has come to our attention that a film containing very explicit sexual imagery involving children NOT KNOWN TO THE SCHOOL has been circulation among our students and those in other schools in the city today,” Cotham School said.
It is believed that the children in the footage are from Hampshire, while a 25-ear-old man from Greater Manchester has been arrested in connection with its making. He was arrested on Monday December 4 and remains in custody.
Police also warned it was not just on Instagram that the video was being shared but Snapchat, WhatsApp and YouTube as well.
