Sheffield primary school doubles exam pass rates in three years

The Star reports that pupils at a Sheffield primary school are leaving class for their holidays on a high after more than doubling their exam pass rate in three years.

The number of pupils achieving English and maths at level 4 in their standard attainment tests at Arbourthorne Primary School has jumped from 35 per cent in 2009 to 76 per cent this year.

Its success is set to be just one of many as early indications suggest there has been an improvement of about 5.5 per cent collectively at schools across the city for Key Stage Two SAT results.

The full results for 11-year-olds will be released in September.
