School staff member charged with stealing £9,000 from her employers

The Plymouth Herald is reporting that a member of staff from a south Devon school has appeared in court charged with stealing more than £9,000 from her employer.

Katie Brown, 28, of Mount Pleasant, Chudleigh, appeared at Torquay Magistrates’ Court charged with four counts of theft and one count of false accounting at South Dartmoor Community College in Ashburton.

Brown was employed in the finance office at the school in Ashburton from 2005 to 2014. The school have confirmed that she is no longer employed by them.

The court was told that the four alleged theft offences took place between 2011 and 2014 and that she allegedly had stolen £9,044.92 from the school…

She was granted unconditional bail and will next appear at Exeter Crown Court on March 11.
