The Government faces a number of huge challenges over the coming months. Rebuilding a shattered economy while preventing a second wave of the coronavirus are the overriding concerns. But fully reopening schools is right up there too.

The Government – and the Education Secretary Gavin Williamson in particular – have received a lot of criticism over their handling of the issue, after u-turning on a goal to get all primary school pupils back before the summer holidays.
