Pupil attacks fellow teen on a school trip to prison where they were being taught that crime doesn’t pay

Wales Online is reporting that a school trip to one of Europe’s biggest jails aimed at stopping youngsters from ending up behind bars ended with a pupil assaulting another youngster…

The visit to Altcourse prison in Liverpool, arranged by a community PC in North Wales, was meant to show that crime doesn’t pay.

But a “lockdown” at the jail led to a meltdown in some pupils’ behaviour as they were forced to remain in the prison chapel for 90 minutes, a youth court at Llandudno was told.

The court was told how a young woman was subjected to verbal abuse from a boy, while three of the young visitors became “disrespectful” to staff and inmates.

Once outside, the situation turned violent.

A 15-year-old boy – who cannot be named for legal reasons – admitted common assault after being accused of punching a 14-year-old hard in the face.

He received a nine-month youth rehabilitation order and must pay £50 compensation and £100 costs…
