Private university collapses into administration leaving students fearing for their degrees

iNews is reporting that one of Britain’s largest private universities has collapsed into administration, leaving thousands of students fearing they will never make it to graduation.

GSM London, a for-profit private degree provider with 3,500 students enrolled, will close its doors in September.

The UCU lecturers’ union called it a consequence of the “marketisation of education” and warned against an “increase in poorly regulated private providers”.

Jeffry Fernhout, 23, has just completed an economics degree at GSM London and told i he received “no warning” about the collapse, leaving students in disarray.

He added that the “very poorly managed” institution’s downfall had been noticeable for students for some time.
