Nine out of ten teachers believe social distancing will not be possible in schools, survey says

An overwhelming majority of teachers believe adequate social distancing from both pupils and colleagues will not be possible in schools as millions of children return to the classroom this week. A poll of nearly 6,000 staff in England found that nearly nine in ten judged that minimising contact with and between pupils – a key part of Government guidelines to restrict Covid-19 infections – would not prove possible in the tumult of the school environment.
