Guest Post: Boost student employability by 86% with FREE careers events.

Careers and Employability support is a vital ingredient in preparing students for life after school. Research by the Education & Employers Taskforce suggests that students who lack four or more careers events while at school are 86% more likely to become NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training).[1]

The research also found that not only would student confidence increase significantly but that annual salaries would also increase by 18%. (Professor Anthony Mann, Education & Employers Taskforce)

Schools keen to boost employability by exposing students to high-quality careers advice both within and outside of school may benefit from the support of rapidly growing EdTech charity Founders4Schools.

Founders4Schools is a charity on a mission to increase youth employability and offers a FREE nationwide service to schools, enabling them to invite local industry leaders into schools to inspire students about the world of work. In just four minutes schools can source high quality speakers for events including role model events, careers fairs and workplace visits among many others.

Feedback from schools has been excellent. “We picked the theme for our STEM Week as ‘Women in STEM’.  We found Founders4Schools a one-stop-shop for really experienced, enthusiastic entrepreneurs who wanted to share their story.” – Diarmuid Molloy, Assistant Principal, The UCL Academy, London

And students are similarly enthusiastic. Alma & Vladislavas, Sixth Form Students from City & Islington College said “The speakers were so inspiring. We both came away feeling really motivated about our careers ahead!”

Founders4Schools are committed to inspiring the future generation with a range of speakers from a different industries, backgrounds, genders and ethnicities. As Sarah Wood, CEO of Unruly, and Founders4Schools speaker, states

“You don’t have to look like Alan Sugar or Mark Zuckerberg to build a brilliant business.” As such schools can select their unique preferences for maximum impact, either taking an express route to create an event in just four minutes or by handpicking local leaders.

And finally, here are some quick stats:

  • 94% of students who attended said they felt inspired by the business leaders
  • 54% of students chose to study a STEM subject at A-level
  • 100% of participating teachers would recommend Founders4Schools

With over 13,000 business leaders across the country, Founders4Schools can support schools in every location in the UK. Getting involved is very straight-forward and takes just a few minutes.
