Former headteacher charged with five counts of fraud

Bedfordshire News is reporting that the former head teacher of a local school is to appear in court after being charged following fraud investigations.

Mike Lavelle, the former head of Lincroft Middle School, has been charged with five counts of fraud…

Mr Lavelle resigned from his role at Lincroft Middle School in May after Bedfordshire Police began an investigation into financial irregularities at the school.

He had been head since 1998 and in recent years taken on executive leadership of Harrold Priory and Margaret Beaufort Middle Schools.

He was first arrested in May last year, and has today been charged by police.

He has been bailed pending a court appearance at Luton Magistrates’ Court on March 14.
