Council paint school waiting zone… outside demolished school!

Rochdale Online is reporting that local residents are furious at what they see as a waste of taxpayers money after Rochdale Council painted yellow school zone markings on Hill Top Drive where the former school has been demolished…

Myron Szymanskyj said: “This has absolutely blown my mind. When I parked up outside a friend’s home, contractors of Rochdale Borough Council decided to paint a school waiting zone at the long and gone Hill Top Primary School which was used to film Waterloo Road School.

“What a waste of money and shows how contractors and some council workers seem to be absolutely mindless automatons and won’t question stupidity when it smacks them square in the face!”

…Steve Reay, Head of Highways, said: “We are legally obliged to follow Traffic Regulation Orders which dictate how road markings should be painted. Unfortunately on this occasion, the Traffic Regulation Order for outside the former Hill Top School had not been amended since its demolition. We will remove the markings at this site at the earliest opportunity.”…
