Catholic school that retracted job offer to head for ‘marital reasons’ gets glowing inspection report

Wales Online is reporting that a Cardiff faith school appears to have put high-profile leadership issues behind it to secure a solid inspection report…

Corpus Christi RC High School in Lisvane, Cardiff, made national news last year when it reneged on its decision to appoint a new head teacher for unforeseen “marital reasons”…

Education watchdog Estyn said Corpus Christi had performed better than the national average in all key GCSE indicators over the past four years, with nearly all pupils having positive attitudes to learning.

It hailed the school’s “extremely high” attendance levels and Corpus Christi’s “very strong caring and inclusive ethos” that promotes high expectations for all pupils.

In his report, lead inspector Tony Sparks said: “The school provides a broad and balanced curriculum, which meets the needs and aspirations of all pupils…

 

From the full report it looks like the school hasn’t yet appointed a full-time head teacher, but the acting head Angela Thomas certainly seems to be doing a good job.
