Kelly Holmes backs compulsory school PE target dismissed by David Cameron

The Guardian reports that Double Olympic gold winner and government adviser on school sports takes up contrary position to prime minister over PE.

Dame Kelly Holmes, the double Olympic gold medal winner and government adviser on school sports, said on Wednesday that said she supported two hours a week of compulsory PE in schools – a target adopted by the last Labour government but dismissed earlier in the day by David Cameron as a box-ticking exercise. Olympic legacy: school sports provision patchy across UK, admits Jeremy Hunt

Continued coverage today of the state of sports in schools, especially state schools, following comments by Lord Moynihan calling for a major increase in Government spending to build a lasting legacy from the London games. This is from the Guardian.
